My Background
I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Hawai’i. I obtained my undergraduate education from Kent State University in Ohio, my MSW in Social Work from Hawai’i Pacific University, and my doctoral degree in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of Alaska. I currently function as the program director for the MSW program at Hawai’i Pacific University. My research interests include working with indigenous organizations, community based participatory research approaches, and understanding intimate partner and sexual violence and sex trafficking. I am licensed to practice clinical social work in Hawai’i, my theoretical orientation to clinical practice is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and I am interested in working with families, domestic violence and sexual trauma survivors, substance abuse, addictions and recovery, and suicide prevention and intervention. In addition to these research and clinical interest I also sit on the Hawai’i NASW board and am a certified Question Persuade Refer (QPR) suicide prevention trainer.
